BERSHKA MADRIX VISUALS PROGRAMMING AT STRATFORD (LONDON) AND COLOGNE STORES

Black&White, people. It works. Always did.
Overall concept for these projects was the same as BSK Berlin: sound reactive visuals for a non-standard LED display. However, similarities end up here. This time, displays would be all about separate squares (not columns, like Berlin), they would be placed right at the entrance of each store, facing outwards, and had to tightly blend into the architecture of the whole place. So, in order to achieve this LED cabinets were specially painted… white. Yeah, the whole thing was hanging up against a white wall, so…
On top of that, Bershka wanted to have black&white visuals this time…
This was kind of a mind-cracker: LED lamps for this particular display were not very bright, and any image running over a white screen would lack of contrast and lose impact. Didn’t come up with any solution of my own. However, London and Cologne did: regulations did not allow for any Vegas casino thing at Stratford Mall nor Cologne store.
Chips were falling into place.
So put my hands on it, programmed a good set of geometry-based visuals with MADRIX, backed up by some video from the current campaign at the time and job was almost done.
Almost. Once tested on screen, realized, though, black&white was not enough. And I love black&white. So had to introduce some color flash patterns to light the whole thing up just a bit.
In the end, the whole set put together looked really elegant. Just the kind of thing these displays were intended to.
Too bad BSK people turned lazy on this project and started running just regular campaign videos on these stores…
But that’s a whole different story.
Fortunately, picture records survived time so you can see these displays in its glory days!
