New Spring-Summer was just around the corner, and a new BSK video came along: Meet Me in Rio. Tells the story of a guy who arrives in Rio to see some brunette girl he’s currently in touch with. As they walk Rio around, he gets some flashbacks of being in Rio with a blonde girl before this… Turns out both girls know each other…
Fin.
Video was shot on 16mm in Rio. Overall feeling was a very classy summer piece, colors not necessarilly that warm, good rythm, beach, beautiful people.
BSK idea was to tweak the whole piece to gain visual impact at stores. Some classic FX here, some VFX there…
So we came up with the idea of accentuating the film feel of the clip, faking a film rolling at the beginning and end of it, and shaking film frame in and out at some break points as well.
Some extra color was also a good idea to play around with, so we added some film burns, nice transitions, sudden stills… Everything carefully crafted within After Effects.
And just to top the whole thing with some VFX, replaced Meet Me in Rio static title with a tracked moving one using Nuke. Not the hardest thing in this twisted world, but some sky cleaning and extra elements replacement/addition was needed.
Final outcome: just the right balance between nicely shot conventional film and wisely applied FX.
One heads-up piece at every store.
