EMERGENCIES, FULL SET OF GRAPHICS FOR MEDIAPRO/TV3 SHOW

After wrapping up Flying Squirrels previous project, thought I would have some quality time to completely rebuild my Reel into something I’ve been having in my head for quite a while now… Soon enough, just by chance, got into designing logo and graphics tests for a TV3 new show, MediaPro production.
Story goes, Realisseseur Jana Manich (village neighbour of mine), was working as Assistant Realissesuer on a new show for TV3, kind of a blend between reality and documentary telling real stories, starred by real people, about… emergencies cases. Fire, hospitals, heart strokes… You know… Well… you actually think you do, but you don’t: it’s not the classic COPS live cam kind of show. It’ not focused on action, but rather on people. Stories, rather than gunshots and flashlights.
They already had someone else doing graphics proposals for them, but tests weren’t much of their taste. So Jana quickly phoned me, explained the situation, the rushes (needed something decent to show within 3-4 days), and final money talk.
Did some tests, Chief Realisseseur liked them, got on board.
A full set of graphics was to be developed then. Everything taking off from show opener: footage and sound edit would be theirs; 2D graphics, 3D inserts, color and feel, and logo design would be mine. Once opener was good to go, I would spin off the rest of the job: chyrons, shot-A-to-B transitions, Credits Roll, Ads In and Out, and many other graphics elements for the entire show.
Hardest thing, naturally, was show logo itself and opener feel. The idea was to pull something elegant, simple, yet visually appealing, catchy, hypnotic. Everything based on three concepts: saving lives, time ticking and focus on the emergency situation. Realisseseur idea was to play around with shadows and lights on footage, a lifeline, and a grey gradient background “burnt” by a spotlight. Those were the masterlines.
So, many tests later (and a show title change in between!), came up with an opener they all liked. Quite liked the results myself, specially for logo fine texturing and overall lighting against that graded grey background.
Overall job took little over a month to be completed: one After Effects project fully editable for MediaPro people to adjust every piece to their needs for every chapter.
One step forward into TV galaxy, fellas…

Stay tuned!
